Uses for Zoflora | Zoflora uses that you might not have thought of

Lots of cleaning bottles lined up next to one another. There is a pink bottle, a yellow bottle, an orange bottle, a green bottle, a purple bottle and a green bottle.

I’m not a cleaning fan or a cleaning expert. But Zoflora smells nice, it’s cheap and I’ve discovered lots of different uses for Zoflora. For those that are after Zoflora hacks, because they don’t love cleaning, I’ve got you covered. Here’s how I use Zoflora in our household.

What is Zoflora?

Zoflora is a concentrated disinfectant (like Dettol) that kills bacteria. But it comes in different scents (which are all pretty much available on Amazon) and the prices are affordable, so you probably won’t mind buying a few different bottles. This means that you can decide if you want your disinfectant to smell like a fruit, a flower, or if you’d prefer a fresher scent, as and when you do the cleaning.

The Zoflora scent rose to popularity when Mrs Hinch started promoting it on Instagram, but this social media fad has stuck around. We all like choice, which is why I think people love Zoflora. Some people even collect different scents, or change their bottle of Zoflora with the seasons.

Zoflora uses

1) To clean inside the washing machine

Uses for Zoflora - inside your washing machine

Ok, full disclosure, before I got pregnant, it had never occurred to me to clean inside the washing machine. I don’t know why. Maybe I was busy doing other things, or maybe I’m just gross. But when I was washing my little boy’s clothes, ahead of his arrival, I couldn’t bear the thought of them going through a washing machine that had been used day in, day out, for goodness knows how long. I heard that you could Zoflora in your machine, so I decided to give it a go.

The result? Oh. My. Goodness. The machine smelt so good at the end of the wash and this is something I’ve done regularly since. Call me boring, but I just love the idea of fresh smelling disinfectant running through my washing machine periodically.

It was so easy and came up so well, that I now use Zoflora to clean it regularly. I put a cap in the drum and two caps in the dispenser drawer, before putting on a hot wash. I try to do it every couple of months.

2) Cleaning in the sink

The sink is a place that you use to clean your pots and pans, so you want the area to be germ free. I like to put a few caps of Zoflora into my sink, I then fill it with hot water and leave it for an hour. I get rid of the water before filling the sink up again, adding more Zoflora and using the mixture, along with a clean cloth, to buff the taps.

The area usually comes up gleaning and smelling fresh.

3) On the kitchen floor

Diluted Zoflora can be used on your kitchen floor. I use it as a floor disinfectant, because I know it is killing germs and I also like the smell. I find that it works particularly well in a steam mop, but I don’t think it’s safe to use it on every floor surface, so check before using it at home.

You should also be sure to stick to the instructions if you have a pet, as Zoflora is safe to use around them, but only if you correctly dilute it.

4) In the toilet brush holder

I use neat Zoflora, in the toilet brush holder to kill germs and to ensure the brush remains clean and smelling good. It doesn’t need to be diluted, because you want the liquid your brush sits in to be as concentrated as possible.

5) As a spray to use throughout your home

I’ve previously written about how I made my own Zoflora spray, which I use around the house in various different ways. Sometime I just spray it into the air and other times I will spray a tiny bit onto a cloth and wipe it on various surfaces.

But you can buy personalised a Zoflora spray bottle if you fancy adding a bit of personality to your cleaning cupboard.

6) In iron

I’m no ironing expert, but I do find that adding a couple of drops of Zoflora to the water in my iron makes my clothes smell fresh. If you’re going to do this, then I’d recommend using a cool scent.

7) On your windows

Clean your windows with Zoflora

If the view outside is looking a bit murky, it’s probably time to clean the windows. Spray some Zoflora onto a cloth and wipe the windows in a circular motion. They will soon be looking clean again.

Is it worth using Zoflora?

There are loads of uses for Zoflora and until I win a house raffle and I can afford to hire a cleaner, it looks like I’ll be stuck if I didn’t use Zoflora. I always have it in the house, because it’s a multipurpose disinfectant cleaner, so there are loads of Zoflora uses. It’s also affordable and really easy to use. I like that I can pick which scent I buy too. My favourite is Fresh Linen. What’s your go-to Zoflora scent?
