This week, you may have spotted Stapo’s thrifty life hacks in The Sun newspaper. My site was selected as Mrs Crunch’s ‘website of the week’.
Mrs Crunch is a money-saving column, which provides readers of The Sun with money-saving advice and it was great to get a mention on there.
Many of you will be familiar with my story. I got into debt when I was in my twenties and then focussed my energies on paying everything back. I found that making little changes really helped my finances, so I decided to create this website to share the hints and tips that made all the difference. Not everything has worked though, so I am honest about that too.
I’m really proud that the site has been named as ‘website of the week’ and it’s particularly nice that the feature appeared a couple of days before the site’s first birthday (which falls on 10 April). This has been a rollercoaster of a year! I’ve learnt a lot and I’ve poured many hours of my life into this website, so it’s nice to receive a mention like this.
My tips for families on a budget
If you missed the feature in The Sun (published on 8 April, 2021) then here are the tips that I shared for families on a budget:
1) If your bank has a round-up feature, which automatically saves your change when you make a purchase, then use it. It’s amazing how fast the spare cash adds up.
2) Get the kids to create gift cards and presents for the family. Not only does this save cash, it keeps your children busy.
3) What works for one person to make or save money might not for you. Keep an open mind but don’t be afraid to stop something if it isn’t right for you.
